FAQs
FAQs
1. Who are you?

We are the Rehberger family of Aberdeen, South Dakota.

2. Why a webpage?

I guess that I can think of 5 good reasons--

  A. It gives us practice at setting up a website.

  B. It gives us a stable home for our e-mail, apart from yahoo and hotmail.

  C. The kids enjoy it, and we hope to put some of their stuff online.

  D. It lets our family and friends know what is going on in our lives, and for us to hear from them.

  E. It gives me a online home for E-votions.

3. What does the VDMA symbol stand for?

The VDMA symbol is a reference to the Latin phrase, Verbum Domini Manet in Aeternum, which means, "The Word of the LORD Endures forever."  To quote the Concordia Reader's Edition of the Book of Concord, "Verbum Domini Manet in Aeternum is the motto of the Lutheran Reformation, a confident expression of the enduring power and authority of God's Word.  The motto is based on 1 Peter 1:24-25."  It is a reminder to our family that the Word of God is to take center stage in all our dealings and thoughts.

4. What is with all the Durer artwork?

It has come to my mind that the current state of the internet holds much promise for Lutherans, mainly because of its textual nature.  One example of this is the woodcuts by Albrecht Durer.  I chose Durer's Large Passion because it is detailed, focused on Christ, and is free.  God-willing, I hope to either find online or scan other Lutheran clip-art and make it available for use by anyone who would like to use it.

5. What are E-votions?

On January 1, 2005, I decided that one of my goals for the new year would be to read through the Bible on a daily basis, and to write a devotion to send to family and friends.  I resurrected a format from my teaching days--Bible passage, introduction, Law, Gospel, prayer--and restructured it for an online devotion.  In doing so, I entered into an entirely new world.

This new world involved a struggle between my sinful nature and my new man over the topic of Bible study.  It led me on some tangents, but also taught me some very useful and specific lessons.  It led me to hunger and thirst for God's Word as I have not done so before.  It gave me new appreciation for the Catechism, the Book of Concord, and the traditional Lutheran liturgy.  It showed me my sins, and reminded me of my need for my Savior.  And it convinced me of my ongoing need to study the Word of God on my own.

During this time, various people asked me to put the "old" E-votions into book form, or online.  I was hesitant to do this, because they were of uneven quality.  But I finally decided to take the plunge, as my way of committing to reading the Word and writing the devotions.  I guess I would not so much encourage their use as encourage you to take the same path I did, by committing yourself to reading God's Word every day for half an hour, and writing your own E-votions.

6. Who hosts your website?

I am hosting with Finalweb, a group that was selected by the WELS as their "official" web host.  They do a very nice job at managed hosting, so that I can focus on content.  They also have excellent customer service.

7. What are you planning for this website?

I would like to add some things in the future:

    A. A repository for online Bible classes that I or others write.

    B. Pictures, stories, songs, etc. that our kids put together.

    C. More Reformation clip-art, of all varieties.

    D. Whatever else presents itself as an opportunity.

8. What do I do if I have troubles?

Contact me via e-mail (link on the left), and let me know the problem.  I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner.
